BEND, Ore. (AP) - Police say a masked man who wielded a hammer and claimed to be a law-enforcement officer robbed the owners of a used car lot in Bend.
The Bulletin reports Bend police officers arrested the 50-year-old man following a short foot chase from the lot Saturday.
Police say the man had a badge pinned to his chest and yelled "sheriff" as he entered Local Motors.
The man ordered business owner Christina Matlock to go outside as he handcuffed fellow owner Morgan Matlock. A 6-year-old boy was also inside the business at the time.
Officers arrived at the lot as the robbery was occurring. The man ran when he saw police.
The man was arrested on suspicion of several crimes, including robbery, kidnapping and impersonating a police officer.
