LA PINE, Ore. --- A Marcola man was arrested in La Pine after reportedly shooting one man and assaulting a woman from Pleasant Hill early Sunday morning.
According to the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Cheyene Wilson, 43, was walking with a woman from Vic's Tavern when Wilson began assaulting her. A nearby man heard her calling for help and found her on Highway 97 near Burgess Road.
As he checked on her, Wilson contacted him, police said. The man tried to keep Wilson from the woman, but Wilson pulled out a handgun and shot the man once in the buttock as he tried to get away.
According to officials, the man then when to Vic's Tavern and an employee reported that he had a gunshot wound. First responders arrived and took the man to a hospital.
Deputies found Wilson by Highway 97 and Burgess Road, where two citizens who had heard about the assault held him. According to authorities, the handgun was found nearby.
Wilson was arrested on charges of assault, unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The Pleasant Hill woman received minor injuries. She and Wilson are reportedly friends visiting the La Pine area.
