Philip Carrasco resigns from 2nd term on LCC board

Philip Carrasco was sentenced to three years of supervised probation on May 14 for inappropriately touching a girl under the age of 18.

EUGENE, Ore. -- A man convicted of sexual abuse resigned from the Lane Community College board on Thursday, just days after more than 28,000 voters elected him to a second term.

Philip Carrasco was sentenced to three years of supervised probation on May 14 for inappropriately touching a girl under the age of 18.

Despite resigning from his seat on the board in April after being found guilty of the misdemeanor crime, Carrasco’s name remained on the ballot for the May special election.

By the end of Election Day, Carrasco had received more than 90 percent of the vote.

Carrasco said the board will fill the zone 5 seat.
