Suspect in custody in connection with string of fires in downtown Eugene

Several dumpsters and an apartment building were set on fire, officials said.

EUGENE, Ore. -- A set of fires were reported overnight on Friday, July 30, in the area of West 7th Alley and Washington Street.

The first call, a Port-A-Potty on fire behind Growler Guys, was reported at about 3:25 a.m. In total, officers believe as many as nine different fires were set. 

Officials say several dumpsters and an apartment building were set on fire. The apartment building fire was extinguished quickly.

Suspect Daniel David Moore was taken into custody at about 4:30 a.m. Police say he had a warrant, and he was taken to the Lane County Jail on charges of second-degree arson, five counts of reckless burning, menacing, and second-degree criminal mischief.

This is an active investigation.
