Oregon COVID-19 total now more than 22,000

Last week, coronavirus cases saw a decline, OHA said.

PORTLAND, Ore. – There are 258 new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases in the state on Wednesday, Oregon Health Authority reported.

This pushes the state total since the start of the pandemic over 22,000.

The new cases include two in Baker, four in Benton, 24 in Clackamas, two in Columbia, one in Deschutes, three in Douglas, one in Harney, four in Hood River, 14 in Jackson, five in Jefferson, four in Josephine, 10 in Lane, two in Lincoln, seven in Linn, 17 in Malheur, 29 in Marion, two in Morrow, 45 in Multnomah, four in Polk, 30 in Umatilla, one in Wallowa, one in Wasco, 41 in Washington and five in Yamhill.

There were seven new deaths reported on Wednesday as well, bringing the death toll to 375:

  • Oregon’s 369th COVID-19 death is a 76-year-old man in Umatilla County who tested positive on June 17 and died on August 10 at Good Shepherd Health System. He had underlying conditions.
  • Oregon’s 370th COVID-19 death is a 95-year-old woman in Washington County who tested positive on August 6 and died on August 8. Location of death is being confirmed. She had underlying conditions.
  • Oregon’s 371st COVID-19 death is a 70-year-old man in Clackamas County who tested positive on June 15 and died on August 9 in his residence. He had underlying conditions.
  • Oregon’s 372nd COVID-19 death is an 81-year-old man in Clackamas County who tested positive on July 30 and died on August 11 in his residence. He had underlying conditions.
  • Oregon’s 373rd COVID-19 death is an 86-year-old woman in Washington County who tested positive on August 6 and died on August 10 at Kaiser Westside Medical Center. She had underlying conditions.
  • Oregon’s 374th COVID-19 death is a 57-year-old woman in Clackamas County who tested positive on July 17 and died on August 9 at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center. Presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
  • Oregon’s 375th COVID-19 death is an 81-year-old man in Clackamas County who tested positive on June 6 and died on August 2 in his residence. He had underlying conditions.

Last week, coronavirus cases saw a decline, OHA said. The week of Aug. 3 through Aug. 9 saw 2,122 new cases, a slight drop from the previous week’s 2,278. A total of 29 deaths were reported, down from 39.

The test positivity rate also went down -- to 5.4%.

Most cases continue to be sporadic, where there is no known source.

OHA also said an outbreak in Marion County has grown to 22 cases. It affects employees at Pan American Berry Growers as well as people they have had close contact with.
An outbreak of 29 cases has been reported at Good Shepherd Health Care System in Umatilla County.
