One dead after crash near Florence

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 36 on Friday evening.

FLORENCE, Ore. -- One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 36 Friday evening.

Crews responded at about 5:30 p.m. to Highway 36 near milepost 1. Preliminary investigation shows that a Nissan PU, driven by a 17-year-old female from Florence, was going westbound when it for unknown reasons crossed into the eastbound lane.

The driver then struck a blue Chevy Cavalier, driven by 34-year-old Tera Ross of Florence.

Ross was pronounced dead on scene. Two juvenile females in the vehicle were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the Nissan was transported with minor injuries.
