Officers respond to shots fired in Springfield

Nearby residents called in around 12:30 a.m. saying they heard multiple shots fired.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Police responded to reports of shots fired in Springfield early Wednesday morning. 

According to the Springfield Police Department, nearby residents called in around 12:30 a.m. saying they heard eight to 10 shots but did not see anyone firing a gun. This happened near Meadow Park in Springfield. 

Officers say when they arrived on scene, they did not find any suspects but did locate a handgun stashed in an alley near H and Mill streets. 

The department is currently analyzing the gun and ask that anyone with information call Springfield Police.
