OHA reports 48 new coronavirus cases

The state is investigating an outbreak and says models show social distancing is helping fight the pandemic, but reopening could change current trends.

SALEM, Ore. – Oregon Health Authority reported 48 new confirmed and presumptive cases of coronavirus in the state on Friday.

The new cases include one in Clackamas, one in Curry, one in Douglas, one in Hood River, three in Jefferson, one in Klamath, one in Lane, two in Lincoln, 11 in Marion, 18 in Multnomah, one in Wasco, and seven in Washington.

Two cases reported in Josephine County were determined to not be cases, as well as one in Malheur County.

An outbreak of six cases has been connected to Duckwall Fruit in Hood River County. The investigation began on Friday. Health officials are working with the business to address the outbreak. Risk to the public is considered low.

OHA also said the latest reports and models are showing that social distancing measures are helping slow the spread of coronavirus, but models could change as counties continue the process of reopening.

No new deaths were reported.
