EUGENE, Ore. -- Mock trial students from North Eugene High School have advanced to the state tournament for the first time since the club started three years ago.
They qualified for the tournament Saturday after winning the regional competition at the Lane Circuit Court. They competed against other teams in Lane County.
One student said she’s proud of what her team has accomplished.
“We're all high experienced with speaking -- public speaking,” said Madeleine Lucas, a junior. “We wanted to work on it. We all had the same goal of accomplishing something together."
Yamhill Carlton High School also qualified for the state tournament.
The tournament will be held at the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse on March 6 and 7.
North Eugene High School will be competing against 17 other schools.
