JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- A car crashed into a grocery store in Junction City Sunday afternoon.

Officials said a car crashed through the southeast entrance of the Safeway on Ivy Street around 12:40 p.m. They said an 88-year-old man drove from the entrance through the floral department before coming to a stop in the produce department.

Police said the driver had two other people in the car with him. They were not injured, police said. However, a customer suffered non-life threatening injuries when struck by debris.

A former first responder told KEZI 9 News he witnessed what happened.

"We're lucky. This side of the store usually has a lot of traffic in and out," said Ron Langley. "There was nobody standing there. The closest person to the car when it came through the building was me."

Officials are trying to figure out what caused the crash. They said they believe it was accidental and no criminal charges or citation have been filed.
