COVID-19 outbreak grows at Eugene long-term care facility

Lane County Public Health reported 22 new COVID-19 cases on Friday.

EUGENE, Ore. – Lane County Public Health reported 22 new COVID-19 cases on Friday.

Nine of those cases are linked to the Evergreen Memory Care outbreak. At this time, the outbreak is at 27 cases. Officials confirmed on Friday that two of their residents have died of coronavirus-related causes. They both had underlying conditions.

"Our condolences to their families and friends. We are grieving them as well and consider it a privilege to have cared for them," Evergreen officials said in a statement.

Overall, the total of confirmed and presumptive cases in the county is now 772.

Currently, 58 people are considered infectious. Two people are hospitalized.
