COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – A company called Dev Northwest just finished six new affordable housing units in Cottage Grove.

The units include two and three-bedroom options.

In each community, the houses and land are separate, which means Dev Northwest owns the land, and the buyer owns the home. The company says this helps keep costs low.

"It makes my heart happy to hear the stories of the people that are going to be moving in," said Dev Northwest CEO Emily Reiman. "A couple of them have new babies or young children, and knowing that they're going to have the stability of growing up in this kind of community environment is wonderful. The only thing I wish is that we could do it for a whole lot more families."

Reiman says they are currently building 12 units in Florence and have been approved to build 31 new units in Eugene.
