EUGENE, Ore. -- A new travel guide book makes it easy to stay local and explore Eugene.

Eugene resident and travel author Julie Furst Henning spent several years writing "100 Things to do in Eugene Before you Die." Essentially, it's a bucket list of adventures.

Number 73 in the book is the Oregon Air and Space Museum, which is located south of the Eugene Airport. Henning calls the museum one of the best kept secrets in town.

The book breaks down things to do in Eugene into five categories including music and entertainment, sports and recreation, culture and history, food and drinking, and shopping and fashion.

"What I realized is that there isn't a general guidebook for Eugene," Henning said. "There's pamphlets and there's information, but if you want a little more information with some background and suggestions for what to do, there wasn't one solid resource for that."

The travel guide is intended for both visitors and locals.

"One thing that really surprises me when I'm out in community is how little people really know about our county, so resources like this book will help people understand there's so much to do here," said Andy Vobora, Travel Lane County's vice president of stakeholder relations.

Henning wrote the book shortly after she moved to Eugene in 2015.

"100 Things to do in Eugene Before you Die" is available wherever books are sold and can also be purchased at Travel Lane County's Visitor Center at 754 Olive Street in Eugene.
