LANE COUNTY, Ore. -- After Oregon's eviction moratorium came to an end at the beginning of the month, Lane County now says that thousands of applications for rental assistance are pending.
The county has recorded 3,974 pending applications as of July 14. They also noted that some of those applications may be duplicates.
That figure exceeds the total number of rental assistance recipients through the county's entire 2021 fiscal year. From July 2020 through June 2021, Lane County Human Services Division distributed $12.8 million in rental relief to 2,727 households.
Oregon's statewide program, the Oregon Emergency Rental Assistance Program, said that 1,177 households had had payments approved to the tune of $7,083,379 between May 19 and July 21.
