Missing mushroom pickers found unharmed

The Eugene couple went to stay with family members in the Cottage Grove area.

UPDATE: A Eugene couple reported missing Wednesday has been located safe in the Cottage Grove area.

A family friend said that the couple had decided to stay with family members in Cottage Grove, but neglected to tell their daughter about their change in plans. She became concerned and contacted authorities when her parents did not return home Tuesday night as planned.


WALTON, Ore. -- A Eugene couple who failed to return home after going mushroom picking near Walton is being sought by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

Colleen Weaver, 53, and Dennis Weaver, 60, left their home in Eugene Tuesday morning to go mushroom picking in the Clay Creek area.

Family members expected the couple to return Tuesday night, but they did not. They were reported missing at 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The Weavers were last seen driving a 2004 tan-colored Chevrolet Blazer, license plate 757 BPP. The vehicle has an American flag sticker and a wolf sticker on the rear window.

Colleen Weaver is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds, and she has brown eyes and brownish-gray hair. Dennis Weaver is 5 feet 9 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown eyes, long black hair, and a mustache and beard. Although they are pictured with two dogs, the dogs are not believed to be with them.

Lane County Search and Rescue and Douglas County Search and Rescue are looking for the couple. Anyone who has seen them or their vehicle is asked to call 541-682-4141.
