BROWNSVILLE, Ore. -- Three people were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis after a crash involving two semi trucks on Interstate 5.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday morning in the northbound lanes near milepost 216, just south of the Brownsville exit.

Oregon State Police said three people inside one of the semis were trapped in the cab for an hour before emergency responders could free them.

OSP also rescued a small dog from the cab of the semi, and the dog was taken to the Linn County Animal Shelter unharmed.

Early indications suggest that one of the semi trucks was driving in the slow lane of the northbound side when it rear-ended another semi at high speed.

One lane continues to be closed as officials try to reconstruct the scene.
