More than 4,000 people get shots at two Lane County mass vaccination clinics

"I think this is so well organized, so smooth and I really appreciate the people who are doing it," Ken Hamacher, who received his shot Saturday, said. "They are giving up a lot of time to help a lot of people so I think the state's doing a great job."

LANE COUNTY, Ore. -- Lane County Public Health vaccinated about 4,200 people Saturday at two mass vaccination clinics.

"I think this is so well organized, so smooth and I really appreciate the people who are doing it," Ken Hamacher, who received his shot Saturday, said. "They are giving up a lot of time to help a lot of people so I think the state's doing a great job."

The clinics were held at Autzen Stadium and the Fairgrounds. Officials said they were unable to hold clinic at Lane Community College because the state did not supply enough vaccine doses to the county.

"We're completely dependent on the state sending us vaccines. They have to distribute it all throughout the state and be equitable in that," health official Micah Brown said. "This week we didn't get enough to open all three sites."

When the county receives more doses, officials said all three mass vaccination sites will be running.
