DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- A Mt. Angel man has been lost in the Umpqua National Forest for nearly a week, and it’s a search where every minute counts.
The family of 30-year-old Jeffery Vance is staying at a hotel in the area while crews continue looking for him. His wife, Halie, told KEZI 9 News she’s not leaving until he’s been found.
Halie came down on Monday to help with the search.
She said Jeffery and her cousin, Anthony Fennimore, went on a guys trip last week, possibly to check out the hot springs in the area, when they got lost near Toketee Friday night and their truck broke down.
Fennimore, who got a ride to Glide and called 9-1-1, told authorities they walked away from the vehicle and became separated either Saturday night or Sunday morning.
The Douglas County Search and Rescue Team has been looking for Jeffery ever since.
“There is a lot of snow,” Halie said. “They’re hoping he’s still alive, we all are. He’s pretty resilient.”
