CORVALLIS, Ore.-- Nine days after disappearing from near her Corvallis home, 16-year-old Ava Carey has been found, police said Saturday.
The Corvallis Police Department said that Carey was located in a neighboring state and is safe.
No other details were provided.
Officials thanked the community and various law enforcement agencies who assisted in the search for Carey.
Search efforts for Carey expanded over the past week, involving the FBI. On Friday, officials asked for doorbell and security camera footage from the Corvallis community.
Carey went missing on August 20 and was last seen at a nearby park. The nature of her disappearance was not explained.
Officials said that Carey's family wishes for privacy at this time.
