CRESWELL, Ore. -- The mayor of Creswell announced her resignation on Friday, weeks after a controversial Fourth of July parade in the city.
Amy Knudsen posted a resignation letter on the Creswell city website Aug. 13. "This has been a long and difficult decision for me, but I feel it is the best decision," the statement said.
Knudsen has been in the spotlight since the Fourth of July parade.
Two parade organizers were cited for violating city ordinances after the parade, including organizing or participating in a parade without getting a city permit.
Knudsen said she became a target and protesters came to her house to protest the citations.
Her resignation letter can be found on the Creswell city website.
