NORTH BEND, Ore. – A man pleaded guilty Wednesday to manslaughter related to the killing of his estranged wife as well as other charges.

Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier said Frank Glen Mason IV will be sentenced later this month for crimes that took place on Nov. 13, 2018 on Chester Street in North Bend.

Mason was arrested after Leslie Mason, 53, was found dead inside her home. Several people called 911 that night reporting hearing gunfire and screaming. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Daughter Lindsay Pease, 28, was also found with several gunshot wounds, but she was rushed to Bay Area Hospital and then flown to OHSU in Portland and survived. Her three young children were at the shooting scene but were not injured.

Frasier said Mason pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted murder in connection with that shooting.

Neighbors reported seeing Mason leaving the scene and said when they tried to stop him, he opened fire on them. One neighbor returned fire with a personal firearm, police said at the time.

Mason will also be sentenced on two counts of unlawful use of a weapon related to shooting at two other people and recklessly endangering another person because one of the shots he fired passed into a neighboring house, almost hitting someone.

Mason was arrested at his home in the 6800 block of Ridge Road.
