EUGENE, Ore. -- Both lanes of River Road just south of the Beltline reopened at around 10:30 p.m. Monday after being closed for two hours due to a crash involving a man in a wheelchair.

The Eugene Police Department said a 36-year-old female driver was headed northbound in the 1900 block of River Road when she hit a man in a wheelchair.

Police said the 46-year-old man was in the middle of the street and not in a crosswalk. He was also wearing dark clothing, making it difficult for the driver to see him.

The man in the wheelchair was taken to RiverBend Hospital with possible brain injuries.

The driver stopped at the scene and was cooperative with police. There was no sign she was intoxicated or impaired, police said.

The preliminary investigation found the pedestrian at fault and police said they don't plan to pursue charges.

Both northbound lanes and one southbound lane of River Road south of Beltline were closed while police investigated the crash. The crash occurred at 8:19 p.m.
