Man guilty of sex abuse gets more than 28,000 votes in LCC race

EUGENE, Ore. – A man sentenced for sexual abuse received overwhelming support in the race for a Lane Community College board seat on Tuesday.

Philip Carrasco, who was sentenced last week for third-degree sexual abuse, received more than 90 percent of the vote over write-in candidates. As of midnight, that number amounted to 28,176 votes.

In April, Carrasco resigned from the zone 5 position on the board. He technically wasn’t up for election, though his name was on the ballot.
