EUGENE, Ore. -- A man who was convicted of murdering a Springfield mother was sentenced to life in prison Thursday morning.

This is the second time Robert Boyd has been sentenced to life in prison in this case.

KEZI 9 News has been following this story for seven years.

Boyd was initially sentenced by a judge to life for murdering his ex-girlfriend Allyson Archibald, 18, in 2010. She was found beaten to death on a Springfield sidewalk.

In 2016, the Oregon Supreme Court overturned his conviction. They said police wrongfully interrogated Boyd after his arrest and statements he made should not have been used in the trial.

He was tried again, this time with a jury. Lane County District Attorney Erik Hasselman said the jury deliberated for less than 30 minutes and came back with a guilty verdict.

Boyd will be eligible for parole in 25 years. If released, he will be on probation for life.
