SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A man has been charged with kidnapping in connection with an incident in Springfield on Tuesday.
David Lee Marlow, 47, is accused of picking up a child at Willamalane Park and trying to walk away with the child, but parents intervened. Police said the parents kept Marlow at the park at 1276 G Street until Springfield police arrived and arrested him. The family did not know Marlow.
Police were called to the park after witnesses reported seeing a man in the children's play area trying to get children to go with him. When Marlow actually picked up a child and began walking away, parents supervising their children stopped him and detained him.
Marlow is in Lane County Jail on a charge of second-degree kidnapping. He was arraigned Wednesday and will be back in court on April 28 for a pre-trial conference.
