CORVALLIS, Ore. – A man is facing charges after a shooting in front of the Safeway in downtown Corvallis.

Officers responded to the store on Third Street Wednesday evening for reports of shots fired.

Police said Aran Murphy and Jason Peterson got in a fight in front of the store.

At one point, Murphy allegedly took out a semi-automatic handgun and fired it into the ground near Peterson.

Police said the two men then struggled over the gun and it went off again during the fight.

Peterson was able to wrestle the gun away and no one was hurt.

Officers arrested Murphy, who is now facing menacing, disorderly conduct and weapons charges.

Police are asking anyone with information on what happened to call Officer Lisa Larkin at 541-766-6924.
