Officer detains Springfield man after ambulance escape, police say

It started when police say the man ran from officers and attempted to hide in a home.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- A man is in custody after allegedly running from police Monday evening.

Springfield Police said a man ran from a vehicle on MLK Boulevard and Lindley Lane. During the search for him, the suspect went into a home in the area to hide, authorities said.

Police found him and arrested him a short time later. He has been identified as Marcos Saucedo, 28, of Springfield. 

Saucedo was treated for a possible heroin overdose by officers and medics, and then he was taken to a local hospital for additional treatment, police said.

During the transport, Saucedo allegedly managed to escape the ambulance on MLK Boulevard north of Harlow Road. He was quickly detained by the officer following the ambulance and was taken to the hospital in police custody.
