Man arrested in connection with stolen vehicle

The car Swenson was driving was reported missing on Saturday, July 3 and stolen from the 1000 block of West 7th Avenue in Eugene.

SRINGFIELD, Ore.-- Springfield police officers arrested a man in connection with a stolen vehicle early Wednesday morning.

According to the Springfield Police Department, an officer spotted Chad Swenson, 41, driving a stolen car in the area of 48th and Main streets shortly after 1 a.m.

The officer followed Swenson and pulled him over in the Albertson’s parking lot nearby, where he was arrested without incident, police said.

Police say a narcotics police dog found a small amount of methamphetamine on Swenson.

The car Swenson was allegedly driving was reported missing on Saturday, July 3, and stolen from the 1000 block of West 7th Avenue in Eugene. 

Swenson is facing charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, unauthorized use of a vehicle, probation violation and second-degree criminal mischief.
