EUGENE, Ore. -- The Leaburg Fish Hatchery will remain open thanks to funding from Oregon senators.

For the next two years, the hatchery will be funded due to $1.3 million from licensing fees. Without that money, the hatchery would have closed yesterday.

Officials with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife said it will be a seamless transition, and the hatchery will continue operating normally.

Supporters fought to keep the hatchery open past June 30.
