Lane County reports sixth COVID-19 death

The 86-year-old man died Wednesday evening.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Lane County Public Health reported the county's sixth coronavirus-related death on Friday.

An 86-year-old man died Wednesday evening. Officials said he had not been hospitalized due to COVID-19 before his death.

He is from the Eugene-Springfield area.

No additional information is available at this time.

Public health officials sent their sincere condolences to the friends and family.

On March 14, the first COVID-19 death in Lane County was a woman who died at RiverBend Hospital.

The second life claimed by the virus in the county was a 59-year-old man from the Eugene-Springfield area who died at a hospital on April 23.

Then, a 62-year-old man from rural Lane County died on May 4.

On Aug. 12, a woman in her 70s died from coroanvirus-related causes at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center.

The fifth death was a 79-year-old man from outside the Eugene-Springfield area. He died Aug. 19.
