LANE COUNTY, Ore.-- Lane County Public Health reported 40 new positive coronavirus test results Saturday, the highest single-day jump in cases since the pandemic began.

A total of 384 presumptive and confirmed cases have been reported in the county. Officials say six people are currently hospitalized and 74 people are known to be infectious.

According to health officials, the initial analysis shows that most of Saturday's new cases appear to be travel-related. The majority of the cases were not detected through the county's low-barrier testing events which have been held throughout rural areas of the county as well as the Eugene-Springfield area.

Officials say that so far, none of the confirmed cases have been connected to large gatherings such as protests.

More information about the new cases will be shared during a press conference on Tuesday, officials said.
