LANE COUNTY, Ore. -- Lane County Waste Management is putting out a new recycling guide, updating the 10-year-old guide that came before it, and it’s filled with plenty of tips.

The new guide is full of good pictures and resources for things like lending programs for dishes instead of disposable goods.

It also includes resources for schools, tips for how to prevent waste in the first place, repair services and information about what’s recyclable at the transfer stations rather than your curbside.

“Our Recycler’s Handbook was predominantly what Lane County provides,” said Sarah Grimm with Lane County Waste Management. “What we tried to feature more in this new guide is the work of all our community partners and the nonprofits that are creating resources and the programs that have been developed by the City of Eugene.”

You can currently pick up copies at the Lane County transfer site, and the new guide also has a website for an online lookup tool that has general tips for recycling.

The waste management division is also encouraging local businesses to get in contact with them so they can provide copies in their stores.
