LANE COUNTY, Ore. – The Lane Regional Air Protection Agency issued “RED” home wood heating advisories for Eugene, Springfield and Oakridge Wednesday.
The advisory took effect at 4 p.m. Nov. 14 and was set to last until 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15.
During the advisory, no visible smoke is allowed from a chimney at a residential home, and people are asked to use alternative heating devices.
LRAPA issued the advisory as air pollution levels rose this week in the lower Willamette Valley from burning activity, and some of the smoke is from the Northern California wildfires.
Without good ventilation, LRAPA said the smoke has been lingering at ground level, affecting air quality.
Economic exemptions are available on LRAPA’s website.
