OAHU, Hawaii -- KEZI 9 News Meteorologist Connor Lewis is vacationing in Hawaii this week.

He said he was headed to breakfast Saturday morning when he got the terrifying alert about a ballistic missile headed for the island.

Lewis said he called a friend in the military who told him he would only have 15 minutes to take shelter, if that missile was actually coming. Thankfully, it was a false alert that reportedly happened during a shift change.

"I've never been scared like that before, because you just dont know...the world is scary right now," said Lewis.

He said people were running, crying, and calling their families for a whole 38 minutes before word started getting around that it was a false alarm.
