K9 Zoro captures man resisting arrest

Rodger Vince Royle is in the Douglas county jail Monday after deputies say he resisted arrest.

TILLER, Ore. - On Monday at 11:14 AM, Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies say they tried to talk 39 year-old Rodger Vince Royle at a residence in the 34000-block of Tiller Trail Highway about an arrest warrant. According to the the Sheriff's Office, "deputies later made a radio transmission that a male subject had retrieved a rifle with a scope."

The Jackson County SWAT Teams were dispatched along with other agencies.

Deputies say they tried to negotiate with Royle, but they didn't hear back from him. Shortly before 3:00 pm, deputies say the Tactical Response Team deployed gas into the shed where Royle was at and still no response. Deputies say additional gas was deployed at and  Royle exited the building where K9 Zoro was deployed and captured Royle until deputies took him into custody at approximately 3:16 pm.

Deputies say they found a firearm as well as ammunition after Royal was arrested. 

He was taken to to the Douglas County Jail and charged with felon in possession of a firearm, disorderly conduct, escape 3rd degree, resisting arrest, menacing, multiple arrest warrants.
