SWEET HOME, Ore. – The Linn County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who was operating the jet ski that lost control and hit two children, killing one, in July.
Authorities said Antonio Cassanova-Gonzalez, 23, of Salem has been cooperating with the investigation from the beginning.

The incident happened July 20 at Foster Reservoir east of Sweet Home. Cassanova-Gonzalez was riding a 2020 Sea-Doo when he lost control and it plowed through the roped-off swim area.
Zachary Maynard, 6, died three days after the accident. Kennedy Swenson, 6, was critically injured but survived.
Cassanova-Gonzalez did not have drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of the accident, the sheriff’s office said.
The investigation has been turned over to the Linn County District Attorney’s Office for review.
