Eugene, Ore. -- Oregon defensive backs Jamal Hill and DJ James have been reinstated following their nearly three week suspension, head coach Mario Cristobal announced on Friday. The two were suspended from all team activities following an airsoft gun incident on Aug. 3.
"After consulting with campus and our administration, both Jamal Hill and DJ James have been reinstated for practice purposes and they will not available for the Fresno State," Cristobal said following Friday's practice.
When asked further about the scope of their reinstatement, Cristobal told the media that both players are available for practices and team meetings, strictly. Their trial is set for Wednesday, Sept. 8 just between the first and second weeks of the season. Oregon plays Ohio State in Columbus on Sept. 11.
Prior to their suspension, Hill and James were slated to be starting defensive backs for the Ducks this year. Their suspension took them out of the entirety of fall camp. They were charged in municipal court on a number of counts on Aug. 25.
