EUGENE, Ore -- It's mid-summer in western Oregon and that means you still have time to plant vegetables and enjoy a harvest.
Caleb Johnson with Johnson Brothers Garden Market breaks down veggies that thrive during warm summer months.
"Don't worry if you got too busy in spring. You are not too late to get some great harvests for the summer, especially if you want to do cilantro and basil. They actually love the hot weather," Johnson said.
Other summer vegetables to plant are micro-greens, lettuce and kale.
"You just want to keep replanting them all through the summer or through fall. Just keep them fresh after they bolt. Simply pitch them and plant new ones," Johnson added.
Tomatoes, peppers and squash also thrive during the summer months.
"Winter squash, summer squash and zucchini -- there will be plenty of time to get some harvest off those," Johnson said.
Other suggestions for summer planting include peas, carrots, beets and onions.
Johnson Brothers Garden Market is located at 91444 Coburg Road in Eugene.
