EUGENE, Ore -- Flowers in a pot can add an instant splash of color to your home. The one question you should ask when selecting plants, do you have sun or shade?
If you have sun that means you have 8 hours or more of direct sunlight.

"Plants like geraniums, salvia, verbena, calibrachoa - are plants that love to be in the sunshine all day long," said Caleb Johnson, owner of Johnson Brothers Garden Market.
If you've got shade, which would be if you get 6 hours or less of sunshine, Johnson says you want to stick with fuschias, begonias, impatiens, torenia -- plants that don't mind getting very little sunlight.
But there are some plants that thrive in both sun and shade like alyssum, sweep potato vine, snapdragons, bacopa, and nemesia.
