EUGENE, Ore. – Major construction is starting on part of I-105 in Eugene on Monday, and drivers should expect delays and detours.

Crews will be filling in an obsolete overpass just south of the Willamette River. The road that was planned to go under that part of I-105 was never built and the overpass will now be made into a regular section of highway.

Starting Oct. 29, both directions of traffic will be moved to the westbound lanes as crews work on the east side of the highway. This work will last for six to eight weeks.

After that, both directions of traffic will be moved to the eastbound lanes as work starts on the west side. During this time, the ramp from southbound Delta Highway to westbound I-105 will be closed for about six weeks.

This is part of a two-year project focusing on repairs to four I-105 bridges and ramps between Delta Highway and downtown Eugene.
