EUGENE, Ore. -- Hundreds of senior neighbors at Lakewood Park in Bethel are protesting Saturday morning.

They say their affordable housing rights are being stripped from them, and they will no longer sit in silence.

The Lakewood Residents Association said that seniors have enjoyed living at Lakewood Park in northwest Eugene for over 40 years and describe it as a "magnet for those seeking affordable housing in a village-like community."

They say the park was purchased by a Real Estate Investment Trust in early 2020, and the association feels as if the new owners are replacing some of the older homes with new, high-priced homes on the market -- that make the park no longer affordable for the current residents.

KEZI has a reporter at the scene.

This is a developing story.
