EUGENE, Ore. -- Hundreds of people made it out to Alton Baker Park Sunday morning, with their four legged friends to participate in Greenhill Humane Society's biggest fundraiser of the year.

It was the organization’s 25th Annual "Bark in the Park" which allowed participants to participate in a 5K and 10K run or a 2K walk.

Organizers said their goal was to raise $120,000 going toward helping care for animals and finding them homes. The money raised would help more than 3,000 animals in need.

KEZI spoke with one participant who told said he was happy to support a cause that's helping animals.

"Gives back to the Greenhill community and to dogs that need adoption,” said Adrian Sherrod. “My girlfriend adopted two and we really believe that you should adopt dogs and get some of these guys off the street."

There were also fun awards given out throughout the event. Some of the awards included: “Best Pet and Person Look Alike,” “Best Costume” and “Best Pet and Person Karaoke.”

Organizers said they appreciate everyone that participated in Sunday's event and hope next year's fundraiser will be even larger.
