OREGON -- Election day is Tuesday, and one Oregon lawmaker said he is concerned some mailed ballots may not be counted.

Senator Brian Boquist said he is concerned some mailed votes may arrive past the deadline because of cutbacks to the U.S. Postal Service that have slowed mail delivery is some rural areas.

Multnomah and Clackamas counties still have postal service hubs, but elections officials in those areas have already taken measures to reduce the risk of ballots arriving late. Those county elections officials visit the postal sorting facilities and mark all ballots received by the deadline. The election officials then send them to the proper counties, where they are processed.

With the election Tuesday, many officials suggest using a drop box instead of mailing in your ballot, to ensure your votes are counted.

If you want to know the status of your ballot, you can track it.
