EUGENE, Ore. -- Eugene Springfield Fire crews got a call of a house fire on Spyglass Drive just before 4 p.m.

The first crew arrived on scene less than seven minutes later. When they got there, the roof was fully involved. Crews called for a second alarm, requesting additional resources due to the already existing poor air quality and wind conditions.

The fire was under control in less than an hour, but Batallian Chief Rod Cullen said the wood shape roof made it difficult to put out.

"The house is essentially pretty much, what I assume, at a loss," he said. "The roof's gone. There's a lot of damage on the second floor of the house. It looks like the fire probably started on the backside of the house."

The fire was contained to the one home. All residents got out safely, but their home is destroyed.
