IDANHA, Ore. – Highway 22 is still closed near Idanha, but the Oregon Department of Transportation hopes to open it on Friday.

ODOT said a fatal fuel tanker crash earlier this week set trees on fire and spilled a massive amount of gas on the road and into the North Santiam River. They said the road was severely damaged.

Crews are working as fast as possible to clean everything up and fix the road, but weather conditions are making it hard.

The Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Environmental Quality are taking the lead on the clean-up effort.

Highways 26 and 58 can be used as detours.
