EUGENE, Ore. --- Two people are in custody after a high-speed chase ended in a crash Sunday morning.
Oregon State Police said the driver of a stolen car drove into the water off of Highway 126 between Veneta and Walton.
Witnesses said a man got out of the car and got into a second stolen car that pulled up right behind him.
Troopers told KEZI 9 News that they found the car speeding at 100 miles per hour near Junction City and a subsequent pursuit was initiated by an OSP Trooper and Lane County Deputy.
The driver allegedly fired a BB handgun at the troopers.
Officials said the chase came to an end when the driver crashed into another car on Beacon Drive in West Eugene.
"The front end on the passenger side was hauled off pretty bad and there was a young man that was brought past me on a stretcher loaded into an ambulance as I was speaking to the police officer," Eugene resident David Mclean said. "He looked unconscious."
Zachary Silver and Travis Nyman allegedly tried to run away but were taken into custody.
Silver is currently at the River Bend Hospital in Springfield for a medical evaluation after claiming to have ingested methamphetamine and faces multiple charges including DUII, possession of a stolen vehicle and unauthorized use of a weapon.
Nyman is currently at the Lane County Jail and is facing multiple charges including reckless driving, DUII and possession of a stolen vehicle.
