EUGENE, Ore. -- Greenhill Humane Society hosted its annual Kitten Shower on Saturday.

It's a lot like a baby shower, but for Greenhill it kicks off kitten season, which lasts through the end of summer. It's a fun way for the nonprofit to stock up on cat care supplies.

Last summer, they had more than 500 kittens go through their doors so they say every donation helps.

"The help we get from the community is immense. We are a nonprofit, we are not funded by anything but donations and fundraising...so we are run by the community. We are so lucky to have huge support from volunteer base and from people who really care about the homeless animals of Lane County," said Megan Brezovar, the Events and Community Outreach Coordinator at Greenhill.

Nine kittens were up for adoption on Saturday and all of them will now be going to loving homes.

If you couldn't make it out this weekend, but still want to help there's an online registry for donations.

Brezovar said they could always use volunteers for foster families and said Greenhill will host a Kitten Bottle Feeding class next Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
