GLENDALE, Ore. – A Glendale woman is in jail after deputies say she held a sledgehammer to a 5-year-old’s head.
The Doulgas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 800 block of Willis Avenue after receiving a report that a woman had barricaded herself in a room with a child.
Deputies said Naomi Ellis, 34, was in her bedroom and the child was screaming for help when they arrived, and they forced their way in.
Ellis was reportedly holding the child with one hand and held the hammer over the child’s head with her other hand. Deputies said she refused to drop the hammer and a fight ensued. A Taser was used.
Deputies got the child to safety and took Ellis into custody, they said.
She was taken to the Douglas County Jail, facing two counts of menacing as well as charges of resisting arrest, unlawful use of a weapon, harassment, second-degree disorderly conduct and reckless endangering.
The child was not harmed.
