EUGENE, Ore. -- A home on Leigh Street caught fire around 9:30 p.m. on Friday causing significant damage to the home.
Fire crews were called out to the 700 block of Leigh Street just before 9:30 p.m. Crews were able to arrive on scene within about five minutes and get the fire under control.
Fire officials said the fire started in the garage and spread from there.
Four fire engines, a fire truck and an ambulance were called to the home.
There were pops and small explosions coming from the garage, but fire officials said that's typical of any garage fire.
Batallion Chief Scott Bishop said there were two people home when the fire started.
"At this point we know that there were two adult occupants home," Bishop said. "They are not injured, there are no fire service injuries, and we're in the process of overhauling the fire right now."
The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
Right now the house is not in a livable condition, as there is heavy smoke damage and some minor water damage.
