EUGENE, Ore. -- Starting Tuesday Fred Meyer will be limiting customer capacity to half of the international building code’s calculated capacity to make sure customers have enough physical distance.

The standard building capacity for a grocery store is 1 person per 60 square feet. Under Fred Meyer’s new reduced capacity limits, the number will be 1 person per 120 square feet.

This change comes after other measures implemented in the past few weeks, including partitions at checkout counters and educational floor decals.

Fred Meyer’s parent company, Kroger, is making the changes nationwide to all stores.
